In our fast-paced world filled with many things whirling at such high speed simultaneously, one thing that has remained constant is the high price of things. After having to pay for essentials, such as rent or mortgage, car payments, insurance, bills, in addition to food and clothing, the majority of extras fly out of the door. You also have to budget in entertainment expenses, including satellite or cable TV as well as access to the internet. Thus when you’re budgeting for Christmas, the decision of who you give gifts to and how much you should spend per person becomes increasingly difficult.
In the past, before the recession, it wasn’t uncommon for somebody to get costly jewelry, or watches, or hand crafted clocks as gifts along with other such exclusive products. Regrettably for many people, this is impossibility nowadays. However, we still want our holiday presents to look like they cost a million dollars. The impossible task and question thus becomes how to give good gifts under $25 that seem a lot more valuable?
Most hard cover books, including the new Harry Potter novel, could be bought for under $25. These represent perfect and very valuable gifts for those of us that love to read. Literature in most its forms are excellent holiday presents. If the person is a chef wanna-be there are also many cooking books under $25 that would make ideal presents as well.
Other popular affordable gifts are music and videos. CD’s continue to be a favorite holiday present, but are increasingly being replaced by gift certificates for iTunes and Rhapsody. Other Alternative bargain gifts are DVD’s of movies or TV shows. There are many new movie releases available for $20-25. Previewed movies are a lot cheaper and cost around $10 but we wouldn’t recommend giving that as a gift. That would be perceived as tacky. Many times you can usually buy a box set of a whole season of a TV show for under $25.
Another popular item that everyone loves is gifts cards. They are available from almost every merchant including Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Victoria Secrets, Amazon,
Game Stop, Toys R Us, Target, American Express and Master Card, among many, many others. They are available in different denominations to suit any budget generally ranging from $5 up to $500. Some are available for less and some have higher ranges. Upon receipt of the credit card, they’ll feel grateful because it’s like putting money in their pocket to buy whatever they want. What’s to not love with this particular holiday present?
That’s three wonderful gift ideas, all under twenty-five dollars. Happy bargain gift hunting and hope your recipients love your gifts!
A book is an ideal gift if you have a tight budget because they’re usually under twenty-five dollars. Just be sure that the recipient likes to read books.
Yes. The person does have to like to read. That’s why we recommend that you get to know the tastes of the person you are getting a gift for.
